Nonprofit = Free Hosting

Cool news from Chris Kerstner’s Foundation – Recently the Kerstner Foundation, in partnership with Hosted Fusion announced that they were offering free web hosting to nonprofits organizations.

A little under 3 weeks later they are elated to announce that over 45 organizations have applied, and all were approved!

All together, these nonprofits will now save close to $50,000 a year in web hosting bills; $50,000 that can now be spent on great charitable causes instead of wasted on some inanimate server in a data center.

Although Mr. Kerstner felt this was a great start, he had this to say:

“Only 45? That’s not good enough for me. There are over 91,000 registered nonprofits in the U.S. alone; I can only venture to guess that many of them have websites they are paying to be hosted. There is no reason any of these nonprofits should be paying for this.”

When asked how many freely hosted nonprofits it would take to satisfy him he responded:

“Ahhh, all of them! Whether they host freely with one of my companies or through other means, there is no reason even one of these nonprofits should be paying for website hosting. Especially when every dollar they save can then be spent on something much more important, like poverty, mosquito nets or clean drinking water.”

“Not only will you receive free web hosting, but also free email hosting; In fact you can have an unlimited number of email accounts all included for free.” – Kerstner explained.

Mr. Kerstner was quoted as saying “We are very pleased to publically offer free hosting to qualifying nonprofit organizations. In the past when we didn’t publically offer the service we would get 2-3 requests a month; we hope to now grow that number 100 fold in the next 2 quarters!”

The Kerstner Foundation is proud to announce completing over $75,000 in charitable website development in the second fiscal quarter of 2008. This milestone more than doubles our previous record of $28,500 set Q1 of 2008.

In partnership with Streamlined Fusion the Kerstner Foundation developed and financed eight web 2.0 sites at no charge to the nonprofits. These sites consisted of everything from Malaria prevention to September 11th memorial sites to viral condom advertisements for parts of Africa where AIDs is an epidemic.

The funds served many important global needs such as Malaria, Breast Cancer, starvation and Stem Cell research.

Additionally approximately 33% or $69,300 was donated to help serve local community needs such as Iraq and Afghanistan Veteran’s surgical operations and Cancer medication for children without sufficient health insurance.
