Cool news from Chris Kerstner’s Foundation – Recently the Kerstner Foundation, in partnership with Hosted Fusion announced that they were offering free web hosting to nonprofits organizations.

A little under 3 weeks later they are elated to announce that over 45 organizations have applied, and all were approved!

All together, these nonprofits will now save close to $50,000 a year in web hosting bills; $50,000 that can now be spent on great charitable causes instead of wasted on some inanimate server in a data center.

Although Mr. Kerstner felt this was a great start, he had this to say:

“Only 45? That’s not good enough for me. There are over 91,000 registered nonprofits in the U.S. alone; I can only venture to guess that many of them have websites they are paying to be hosted. There is no reason any of these nonprofits should be paying for this.”

When asked how many freely hosted nonprofits it would take to satisfy him he responded:

“Ahhh, all of them! Whether they host freely with one of my companies or through other means, there is no reason even one of these nonprofits should be paying for website hosting. Especially when every dollar they save can then be spent on something much more important, like poverty, mosquito nets or clean drinking water.”

If you are a nonprofit that wants free web hosting, apply here.

By now, just about everyone is feeling the economic pinch as banks fail, credit freezes, and companies go under. Each and every day, companies are not just fighting for new clients; they’re trying to keep their current ones. So what can you do to attract the new, keep the old, and not break the bank? The first place to look is at your website. According to NetRatings, 80% of people would prefer a lesser-known business with a quality website than a well-known business with a poor website.

“With our custom websites, we’ve taken $1 million dollar companies and made them look like $100 million dollar companies,” says Streamlined Fusion CEO Chris Kerstner, “which allows them to compete on the same playing field for a fraction of the investment.” And that translates to the bottom line. So what does Kerstner suggest if you’re happy with your current site? Search Engine Optimization. “Eighty-six percent of consumers will use a search engine to find what they want,” he says, “and Google has become part of pop culture vocabulary.” In reality, consumers will rarely click past the first page of search results and quite often choose one of the top five links. The utility of a well-designed website can be completely lost if it is buried on the fifth page of search results.

In rough economic times, when prospects aren’t exactly beating down your door, differentiation is king. Your website is an extension of your company and will create a lasting impression on your visitors. Turning these visitors into customers is where Streamlined Fusion comes in. Says Kerstner, “A custom website and optimized search engine results simply makes you more competitive; it’s a fact of business in the 21st century.” Kerstner attributes this fact to Streamlined Fusion’s booming business as well: “Because of the recent skyrocketing demand for our services, we are looking at doubling our staff by Q1 2009, bringing on another 18 people.” Does your website need some work?
It has been statistically proven that in many cases small businesses lose out to big corporations for a simple reason: they don’t look big enough.

It is not that the small guys don’t have the product or the service that will serve the end customer sufficiently. It is simply that they don’t have many of the tools that large businesses use. One Los Angeles-based entrepreneur, Chris Kerstner (USC Alumnus), has not only taken note of this handicap that small businesses have, but is going the extra mile to make sure that all small businesses can have the tools they need to compete in a large business environment. Continue reading on Forbes.com.
